If you’re planning on spending 3 days in Marrakech, this will be more than enough to amaze you, choosing a restaurant may be a tougher task than it appears. Good news : we’re a bunch of foodies at Marrakech Insiders and we decided to share our five favorite spots for a lunch or diner in Marrakech’s Medina. Be prepared to get hungry !
La Famille
This is the new address in town, even though they have been open for a couple of years now, you can walk by La Famille without noticing its entrance. Walk through a corridor between two shops and find yourself in a revisited mediterranean garden, the decoration is sober and seems so simple that it’s obvious the owner put some serious work into this. The kitchen is like the decoration : a very simple menu that changes on a daily basis with just vegetarian dishes. Vegetarian doesn’t have to mean « not enough food », just try getting to the end of their salad !
Most dishes are inspired by local cuisine. It’s a haven in the hustling Medina ! Go there for lunch as they are closed for diner. No alcohol is served.
42, Riad Zitoun Jdid, 30 meters from the Palais Bahia towards the Jemaa el Fna square.
Open Tuesday to Sunday from noon to 5pm / Tel : +212 (0) 524 385 295
Le Jardin
Located in a 16th century refurbished property, you will stumble upon a green and very different universe ! Combining Moroccan design and European savoir vivre, you can have lunch in the courtyard in the shade of their palm trees, on the upper terrasse in the sun or in one of the smaller rooms around the courtyard.
The menu is a mix of local and international dishes. Our favorite is the kids’ menu at 80 MAD. No alcohol is served here.
32, Souk Sidi Abdelaziz

La Terrasse des épices
People come from all over the world to this famous Terrasse which is well known for its atmosphere, its pleasant staff and its very cool playlist.
The menu is simple and will please the entire family : half of it is local (try their Tanjia !) and half is western if you need your burger or pasta fix ! Their attention to details paid off, : the hats of the staff, the view and the new barber shop one floor below. You may very well find us there in between tours ! Bonus : They serve alcohol.
15 Souk Cherifia, Sidi Abdelaziz
Non stop service from 11am to 11pm / Tel : +212 (0) 524 37 59 04

Atay
This little treasure is hidden in the heart of the Medina and you may very well miss it. Don’t hesitate to pass the door, their staff is very welcoming, their local cuisine does the trick and the terrasse, which offers a great view on the Atlas mountains in the winter. Have a glass of tea on us ! No alcohol served.
62, rue Amsafah Sidi Abdelaziz
Open daily from 10am to10pm / Tel : +212 (0) 661 34 42 46
Nomad
Very well located above the « place des épices », the interior design puts you in the right mood for what’s coming in your plate. This restaurant seems to exist since the 50’s and has several rooftops. The chef has reinvented some local dishes. You will probably want to stay very long after lunch for a coffee, and a tea, and another coffee, etc. No alcohol served.
